Heavy Construction Academy: Mulch & Dirt

This time of year is known for the large amounts of mulch and dirt that are dumped and purchased. Spring and summer bring around gardening in a way like no other. Heavy Construction Academy can train you to utilize heavy equipment for heavy gardening.

Moving, trees, dirt, rocks and more is a way of life for the gardener of heavy equipment. These machines make it much easier. They do the hard labor while simply being directed. With today’s ever changing technology, some cabs of the heavy equipment are air conditioned which helps with being out in the sun for gardening. Also, there are many tool attachments that can be used to help make the jobs a lot easier.

Heavy equipment is used in gardening in large areas. Businesses and such hire operators to transport materials all over to achieve a goal of appearance of their landscaping. Some machines are too big to maneuver in and out. There are loaders however that are small enough to get in and out of tight areas. This definitely comes in handy for corners.

Some companies do not use mulch or dirt but use rocks instead. A piece of heavy equipment is really the only logical way to move something so heavy. By attending Heavy Construction Academy, you could have a job in heavy landscaping and gardening in no time. You would learn all about the safety and upkeep of the equipment as well as how to operate it. You can enroll online or by phone- contact HCA today!

Thanks to the instructors who taught me at HCA, I am successful not only as an operator but as a manager of the people who work for me.

A heavy equipment operator? Not me! I had no interest in this field of work until I had hit several dead end jobs and had no more ideas left. I saw an ad for Heavy Construction Academy and wondered if they offered anything I would be good at. I checked out the website and called the school. Now I am enrolled and will begin training soon. I am looking forward to a successful career as an operator and am excited to learn all about it.
-Tony V.
I have learned so much in the last weeks of my life. I just finished operator school at Heavy Construction Academy. I learned all about the industry as well as safety. My favorite part was getting in the driver’s seat of the machines. I am now looking for a job. I sent out my resume (which the school helped me make) and am waiting for a phone call.

Heavy Construction Academy: Training in a Nutshell

There are many components of heavy equipment training. Some are more exciting than others but the y are all high in importance, thus the reason they are a part of training to be an operator. Training at Heavy Construction Academy is a choice that many choose for training because of the caliber of learning capabilities. There is a high recommendation of the school through construction companies and professionals in the industry.

The training program through HCA includes classes such as safety, maintenance, basics, and experience. The safety training may be the most important of all the areas of training in the course. A student can learn all there is to know about operating heavy equipment but without knowing and practicing safety, they are incapable of being successful in the field. Not only is safety important for themselves and their company but for anyone who is around. Too many times, accidents have occurred due to a lack of safety precautions being followed.

Maintenance is also a part of heavy equipment training. This is a vital part of training because once a student enters the field; they will be responsible for maintaining their machines. From cleaning to malfunctions, operators must know their machine and be able to understand the basic mechanics and how to maintain them.

The class about the basics of the industry is the foundation for all else in the course. This will explain machines, what they are used for, and different jobs within the industry. This course is not as helpful for those who are entering training just to update certification but is truly necessary for new workers in the field.

The ‘experience’ portion of training is the most exciting of all. Students at Heavy Construction Academy have the opportunity to physically learn to operate heavy equipment. This includes instruction on campus in the seat of a machine. Students learn more during this part of training than any other.

Contact Heavy Construction Academy to enroll or if you have any questions and get your future started today!

  • Cranes: Each and every type of crane has a purpose. Some are larger than others but they are all operated similarly. All cranes are used for lifting but they have alternative uses as well.

Heavy Construction Academy Success Stories

I have worked for over 10 years at a large scrap yard. Eventually I moved into management but unfortunately I hated it. I really wanted to work with heavy equipment but knew I needed more training. I found HCA on the internet and knew it was the answer for me. As soon as I graduated I got a job as an operator. Now as I look back I can really say that my training was great. I learned so much and there is no way I would have been prepared for this position without the training I had at Heavy Construction Academy.

Danny B.

I used to see heavy equipment at work as a child and wished that someday it could be me operating them. I remember a time I got to actually sit up in a loader and I thought it was huge and awesome. Even though I did not quite understand all that it meant back then, I knew working with those machines was my dream. Thanks to Heavy Construction Academy, my dream has come true. Due to my training there I got a job with no problem and love it even today.

Steven P.

I got a job working for the Department of Roads in less than a month after finishing my training program with HCA. I not only enjoy my job but am proud of what I do. We work on the roads in mild weather and during snow months we specialize in snow removal. I get to work with trucks, graders and loaders and I love it. Overall I could not be happier with the end result of my choice to study at Heavy Construction Academy.

Heavy Construction Academy: Operating a Grader

Heavy Construction Academy makes it possible for students to become certified heavy equipment operators. One of the pieces of equipment that is used often and can be used in various ways is the grader.

Graders are typically used in road building. They make use of their blade to level surfaces. There are many different models of graders that have different blades. Snow removal is another big and important job that graders complete. Roads are not usable with snow covering them and graders make it possible to remove the snow.

It is important that operators know exactly how to operate a grader before they attempt to do so. Heavy Construction Academy makes it possible for students to fully comprehend operation of equipment to the fullest. This does not only include physical operation. The safety practices of operating heavy equipment are a large part of what students must know in order to be a capable operator. The lives of the people around as well as the operator depend on correct safety practices being followed.

At Heavy Construction Academy, students have the opportunity to operate machines during their training. This hands-on experience will help them to be fully prepared to take on a position in the work field. With the help of the staff (who are professionals of the industry), students at HCA will graduate with the skills and knowledge they need to acquire a great position that could lead to a long lasting career.
