Heavy Construction Academy and the Truth about the Construction World

Many times people are not familiar with certain aspects of the construction industry. Often, things that are not true are believed and Heavy Construction Academy would like to clear those misbeliefs up.

The first thing that is generally believed that is not true is that it is not necessary to go to school and be trained in heavy equipment for the construction industry. While experience is the first thing employers look at, even the hands on experience gained in training at Heavy Construction Academy is considered work experience.

Employers are in the market for hiring the best qualified candidates for jobs in the construction field and those who have had training on skills, knowledge, and safety are most highly favored. These employees are less of a liability and make the best workers overall.

Another thing people tend to believe that is not true is that the workers in this field had no other choice but to work in construction. The truth is that this industry is a very highly chosen career. Not only does it take a hard worker and special skill set. It also makes a lifetime career with great pay and benefits. There is job security in the field and with the training that Heavy Construction Academy provides, any worker would be proud to be in the industry.

The last thing that many people assume about the heavy equipment field that is plainly not true is that it does not pay well. With a high demand for skilled workers and the kind of work they do, heavy equipment operators make a great hourly wage. They also earn overtime, and typically have great benefits. The truth is that working as an operator is a great career path to choose. It can lead to owning your own business.

Training to be a heavy equipment operator at Heavy Construction Academy could be the best choice you make for your professional life. You can be successful in no time and have a great career ahead of you. If you have heard otherwise and have questions about becoming an  operator, contact Heavy Construction Academy for more information.

Time management starts in your training at HCA

Time management skills are important in any part of life whether it be at home or on the job. When training to be a heavy equipment operator at HCA, you will learn that this will be a vital part of your career as an operator. You will be taught the ins and outs of the industry and how time management will affect your overall work.

When working on a construction project, time is of the essence. If you get behind on one part of the project, the entire thing can be set back hours, or even days. With most construction jobs being weather dependent, it is important to keep in mind your end goals. Everyday operators need to know what the goal is for the day and meet that objective in their given work hours.

It is important to keep up with the schedule given for the task at hand not only for the operator but the company as a whole. It can mean a difference in pay for the operator if they are paid per job. Also, many times there are plenty of other contractors who come in after the main building is done. Their work and pay is affected if the operators get behind.

Each machine that you will be trained on at HCA has a specific purpose at a jobsite. These jobs are typically backed up one to another. As soon as one machine has done their part, the next operator and machine come in to do theirs. If you are multi-skilled as you will be if trained at HCA, you may even run more than one machine on a job. In this case, your time management must be on task. You always want to please the company you work for, the client that is paying, and the people you are working with. By having a strict standard on time management for yourself, you will do all of these without problems.

HCA Brings You: Backhoes, Loaders & Excavators

There are several different types of machines in the heavy equipment industry. Some are bigger than others and some have more capabilities than the others. In order to be a truly successful operator of the heavy equipment, you must be skilled, trained and experienced on multiple machines. At HCA, you will be trained on several machines. Some machines are operated in similar ways while others are more difficult. Three machines that are very much alike include the backhoe, loader, and excavator.

The tree machines are very much alike in ways but are also very different in other ways. When you have been trained as an operator on all three, you will have no problem switching back and forth. While the jobs that are done with the backhoe and excavator are the same, their actual operation and functioning is very different. They have different mechanism that enables them to be driven. Even the similarities between backhoes and loaders are there but not fully. At HCA you will learn in depth about each of these machines and what separates them from one another.

If you have not been properly trained on watch specific machine, you may have trouble maneuvering them. It is important when looking into a training program that you choose one with a lot of hands on training. At HCA, the on the field training will prepare you for a position as an operator in the best ways possible. As you learn, you skill level and confidence in what you do will grow and you will be successful in the heavy equipment industry.

Heavy Construction Academy could be for you!

Today it seems that choosing a career is a difficult choice for those searching to make a decision. Whether you are looking to change careers or you are young and looking to begin something for your life, becoming a heavy equipment operator will definitely be a career that can bring you success and job security. In a world where jobs seem to be gone, there is always construction work in our country and around the world in need of operators. Here are the stories of some recent grads of Heavy Construction Academy and what they are doing today.

Joe writes:
I am so glad I chose Heavy Construction Academy for my operator training. I was not sure what to do with my life after many short term jobs here and there. I decided in 2009 to attend HCA and make this my future career. I am gainfully employed by a large construction company that HCA hooked me up with through their student career services. I had no problem getting hired because the company was familiar with HCA and knew my training was the best. Thank you Heavy Construction Academy and all of the staff for all you have done for me!

Angelo writes:
Heavy Construction Academy marked the beginning of my new life. I really did not have much direction in my life, but with a family to support I needed stability. I graduated from the training program over a year ago and have been working ever since. I found a job in our area within just two weeks of being done with training and am still with the same company. I have never stayed with a job or even the same field for this long but I know this is where I am supposed to be. I love the work I do and am hoping to learn enough to maybe one day have my own company. I know it will take a lot of work but with the training Heavy Construction Academy provided me with and the skills I am still working with today, I think I can do it.

HCAs success comes from a long line of experience

The founder and president of HCA is Ralph Delvecchio. He founded the training program after thirty years of success and experience in the industry himself. He was at the very top of the field and founded the school that not only is known for its excellent training but is leading the way for future operators everywhere.

He said it best when Ralph said, “Our instructors are without question the best in the business, with many years of experience in the industry.”

Not only does his own personal experience speak volumes for the institution but all of the instructors as well. His success led him to setting the bar high from the beginning and HCA has met those standards ever since. Graduates of HCA leave the program fully equipped, trained, and ready to face the work the construction field will throw their way. There is literally hundreds of years of experience when the experience of the faculty is added together.

There are many skilled and developed operators being released into the workforce because of Delvecchio’s experience and leadership. HCA ranks high in thorough training student services.  If you are interested in becoming a heavy equipment operator, check out HCA. The programs they offer are the best and you will not be disappointed in the education you will receive.
